BRB CRYING. My friend’s goal for us tomorrow is to get 21:45, I love her, she’s crazy. I really hope we get that, I would go ballistic if we did. I guess we just need to work that much harder tomorrow <3 We got this :) Sub 20 by state quals <333
But today was the best day I’ve had in a long time :) I woke up and went to church then had whole wheat blueberry pancakes for breakfast (not the best, but definitely not the worst!). Then I played 90 minutes of basically straight soccer ( I play halfback and we had no subs D:) Then a friend from cross country had asked me to run with her and of course, how could I say no and force someone to run on the dreaded treadmill…*gasp!* So, I got dressed and met her at the high school. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much in my entire life! We ran to the fish thicket and just took random trails. We made decisions based on eenie meenie miney moe and just ran. I almost got close-lined while trying to pick up a tree trunk. We got lost, had fun and completely lost track of time. We ended up running for an hour and 13 minutes in all xD Then I went birthday shopping and got frozen yogurt, overall awesome day :)
First off, today was just not my day. I woke up 15 minutes late and had absolutely no outfit planned because, SUPRISE, it’s 85 degrees out (not exactly jeans weather). So, I handle that and I am ready to dash out the door when I notice my bag is damp. Then as I feel it, it is soaked. Turns out my mom put my waterbottle in it but didn’t quite close it….therefore soaking all my papers for school. I finally get to school and go through the day with my knees KILLING me from the damn fish thicket! Then, I had to practice with my friend for our band audition on tuesday. I am playing in a practice room and look at the clock and am like ohhhh I have like 10 minutes since they already know I’m going to be late for cross country and it’s only 2:35 (it starts at 2:30). So as I keep tooting along, I notice the clock isn’t moving. I look at my phone, 2:50. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. As I hauled some serious ass to cross country my absolute LEAST favorite song was on the loudspeakers, figures right? I FINALLY get there and start changing andddddddd my clothes are still wet from this morning’s little water episode. As I’m changing into my wet clothes, the cross country girls tell me we are leaving for an oak time trial (2.5 miles on roads) in like 2 minutes. I go out and tell my coach I’ll be out in like a minute, his response? Wait why? You’re running it? Ummmmm YEAH I am on the team! Of course when I get out I had to run over to the start because, ya know he couldn’t wait the extra minute. But by some grace he developed in that 5 seconds, he gave me a few minutes to stretch. As we get up to the line, I was just worn and done but I knew I had to finish at least in the top 3 otherwise shit would hit the fan. So, we go and my friend FLIES from the start. She’s an amazing runner but she hasn’t quite grasped the whole, if you know you are going to burnout take the beginning a tad slower and pick off your competition as you go. So I try to stay on her shoulder but, by the time I got 3/4 mile in, I was dying so I hung back a little bit. As we got to be about 2 miles in, she starts to burn and OF COURSE, this little fucking 8th grader comes up from in back of me and proceeds to overtake the both of us. Well, fuck. So I’m like totally done but I was catching up to my friend, who was still a little bit in front of me. I was maintaining speed when my friend says, “Christina! Get up here!” Honestly, I don’t know what came over me after that. I listened like a golden retriever xD Then we were going and the all knowing, pain in the ass 8th grader is running…past the street we were supposed to turn down. So, I had to tell her to turn (I am waaaaaaaaay too nice sometimes xD). Then I passed my friend on the last street and WORKED to the finish. I fell down after, totally dead and my knees were KILLING me. But I got 16:12 which I am damn proud of :) After that we went and did 2 “warmup loops” which are about 1 mile each or so, VERY slowly. Then, my lovely coach wanted us down at the track for speedwork. All this while my friend is saying how she can’t believe how badly she is doing and how her mom is going to kill her if the 8th grader beats her in the freshman race. I gave her a HUGE pep talk so hopefully she will be a little less stressed about it. I mean, shes in smart classes and has a huge amount of things on her plate, plus she’s an amazing runner. If I had a daughter like her, I would be damn proud! But anyway xD So then we were told we had to do 4- 400m sprints. We ended up doing 3 and I got an 83, an 85 and an 82 :) Fantastic workout but I have to try to keep my friend motivated because, I’m not sure if she knows this but, I need her to keep me going as much as she needs me. Fish Thicket trail exploring tomorrow, lets go! <3
